New Direction for 2011

This year I am working on my oil paintings - influenced by painting from life last year and find that the images are morphing into the landscape. I am also working on my female torsos which have been quite static. Mainly concentrating on getting the balance of the figure right. Moving from 2D to 3D is challenging but fascinating. Hope to put more movement into the figures.

Digital Painting

This picture is made up of a number of works concentrating on life and printmaking images mainly completed in the last 12 months but some printmaking works date from the early 1990s. Great way to present work. I am undertaking digital painting course and am venturing into the digital world using photoshop and indesign to produce this work. Converting back to a jpeg file seems to have made some lines in the image.
Video Clip
As part of my body of work for painting sem 1. First attempt - the clips were taken from a couple of visits to Cockatoo Island.

2010
This year I am undertaking a Masters of Painting (Coursework) at COFA UNSW Paddington. I am attending Life Drawing and Drawing classes as well as Painting classes. The theme in painting so far is centred around Cockatoo Island and a recent trip made with friends this year. So far I have developed watercolour drawings, paintings and photoshop paintings and drawings. I am now working on imovie and am going out there next weekend to take some video clips. Who knows where this exploration will lead. Here is a favourite piece from life drawing class.

Latest Works
I have been enjoying learning how to 'throw' - as a beginner potter Ive got nothing to show at this stage but it is wonderfully therapeutic. I have also been hand building - and this small white figure is the latest piece and I was game enough to put a head on - and of course its not really in proportion but a little better than the last attempt. It is very powerful to be able to add a head on - create the neck then the jaw and so on - it just amazes me. I can also lop it off if I dont like it! Also here is a painting Ive been working on for about two years, but not continuously. Last Sunday there was an open studio event at the 'Workshop' in Willoughby and I was fortunately enough to be invited to attend - so I spent the day working on this painting - still not finished but I am happy with it for now. Here is also a look at my art wall - a combination of works.
